AKG·INTERACTIVE

Privacy Policy

HistoryGuessr · Last updated: 3 August 2026

In short: HistoryGuessr has no accounts and you send us nothing. There is no server of ours behind the game. Your scores, settings and match history live only on your own device.

No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.

1. Who we are

HistoryGuessr is developed by AKG Interactive. For anything about this policy: support@akginteractive.com

2. Personal data we collect

None. The app sends us no name, email, phone number, location or advertising identifier (IDFA). We have no server that could collect them.

3. What stays on your device

A few things are stored on your phone so the game can work. They never leave your device, are not uploaded anywhere, and we cannot reach them:

Deleting the app removes all of it from your phone. You can also clear it inside the app: Settings → Reset statistics.

4. The three places the app reaches the internet

Photographs — Wikimedia Commons

The historical frames are loaded from Wikimedia Commons (public domain or openly licensed images). While a photo is downloading, your IP address reaches Wikimedia's servers, as it does with any internet request. No name and no app-related identifier is sent with it. The Wikimedia Foundation's own privacy policy applies: foundation.wikimedia.org

Maps — Apple Maps

The map you drop your pin on is Apple's MapKit. It talks to Apple's servers to draw map tiles, and Apple's privacy policy applies to that. The app never asks for your location — that is why iOS never shows you a location permission prompt. The game does not know where you are.

Live 1v1 duels — Game Center

This only comes into play if you choose a live duel. Apple's Game Center handles the matchmaking and the connection between the two phones; there is no server of ours in between. In this mode your Game Center nickname is visible to your opponent, as it is in other games. Game Center's handling of data is governed by Apple's privacy policy. If you never play a live duel, the app never connects to Game Center.

5. The challenge link

When you challenge a friend, the link that is created carries the whole match inside itself: which frames, your guesses, how many seconds you took, the nickname you chose and your rank. Three things are worth knowing:

6. Notifications

If you allow them, the app sends a daily reminder. These are local notifications scheduled on your phone itself — they do not come from a server of ours, so we cannot see when you play or whether you tapped one. You can withdraw permission at any time in iOS Settings.

7. No purchases, no ads

The app is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising. So there is no payment information and no ad-network data either.

8. Children

Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects none from children. We hold no children's data, knowingly or otherwise.

9. Exercising your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and Turkey's KVKK give you the right to access, correct and delete your data. Since we hold no record of you, there is nothing to access or delete on our side; all of your data is on your device and under your control. Deleting the app is the exact equivalent of exercising the right to erasure.

10. If this policy changes

If anything that collects data is ever added to the app, this page will be updated beforehand and the date above will change. For a significant change we will also say so inside the app.
